Summer Summary
We can't believe that summer has already come and gone but it is hard to deny all the evidence such as Labor Day weekend, college football, and cooler temperatures. We have been very busy since our last update. On July 14, we preached at the Licking Co. Church of God Camp in Newark, OH hosted by Pastor Tony Bartlett. Several hundred were in attendance and we wish we had been available to be with them for more than one service but we were glad to fit them in between two previous engagements. On July16, we had to travel to our next preaching point which was at the Mt. Carmel Camp Meeting in Van Cleve, KY on the campus of Mt. Carmel High School.
It was our privilege and honor to preach with Dr. Marlin Hotle and to stay with Dr. & Mrs. Philip Speas. Dr. Speas is the President of Kentucky Mountain Bible College. Although this was my first time to be on the campus, this was a return visit for Pattie. She had attended school there as a sophomore back in 1973 but had not been back since then until now. We had a great time and a great meeting through its conclusion on July 25.
Our last camp meeting for the summer was the Mooer's Camp in Mooer's, NY. We were there from July 28 through August 2. This camp is located in the far northeast corner of the state and is only about 3 miles from the Canadian border and about 14 miles from the Vermont border. Since we were only about an hour away from Montreal, Canada and Burlington, VT, we were able to take day trips to these locations on two separate afternoons. Although we enjoyed the new scenery, perhaps the most thrilling element of this camp was the 130 or more teens that were staying on the grounds. There were nearly as many teens as there were adults in many of the services. What a thrill!!! We also enjoyed meeting and working with Paul and Cindy Talley for the first time. They provided the special music and led us in worship for the services.
Our next update will fill you in on what has been happening since our fall revival schedule began on August 8.
One special bit of news from the summer: Our youngest son, Matthew, became engaged to his longtime girlfriend, Krista Withrow. He proposed in a castle in Ireland while on vacation with her family in July. They plan to get married next fall.
Thanks for your continued prayer and financial support of this ministry. We appreciate you very much.
Together for souls,
George & Pattie
