Revival Update
The long hours spent behind the wheel are being rewarded lately with the beautiful scenery of the changing fall colors. Although the leaves have not reached their vivid potential because of the dry conditions, the forest tapestry has proven that there are seasons when God doesn't think about "going green". :-)
Our first revival of this month was held on Oct. 3-6, at the Inglewood Church of the Nazarene in Nashville, TN with Pastor Andy & Katie Ingram. This young couple is doing a good job for their first pastorate. They are very involved in community projects and in the local public school reading program.
It was good to see some friends that we had met in other services. Rev. & Mrs. Carl Dennis came to visit. We met them last year at the Tenn. Dist. Camp and again this summer at the Mt. Carmel Camp. We also got to see Mr. & Mrs. James Keefer. We know them from the Lakeland Holiness Camp in Florida.
The Nashville area is still recovering from the severe flood that resulted from 15 inches of rain back on May 2. The Grand Ole Opry had just reopened the week before we arrived and the Gaylord Opryland Hotel and the Opry Mills Mall are still closed due to ongoing renovations.
Our next revival was held earlier this week, Oct. 10-13, at the Paoli Wesleyan Church in Paoli, IN with Pastor Bob & Vivian England. We had exceptional attendance for this meeting with very good response to the altar calls. Worship was led and special music was provided by nationally known pianist and singer, Danny Jones. He is very talented and did a quality job.
We appreciated visits by Dist. Supt. Dr. Mark Eckart and others from nearby district churches. While in the area, we were able to take a tour of the district office and camp grounds in Orleans, IN and also tour the West Baden and French Lick areas. These are the hometown areas of NBA great, Larry Bird of the Boston Celtics. The historic West Baden Hotel & Spa was and still is an architectural marvel of the 1800's known for its mineral springs and large domed atrium. The dome is 200 ft. in diameter and 600 ft. in circumference and rises 130 ft. from the 62,000 sq. ft. atrium floor. It is absolutely amazing to look at.
We also had the opportunity to stay in a bed & breakfast for the very first time. We stayed in the Big Locust Farm Bed & Breakfast owned by Joel & Glenda Lindley. It is located a half mile from the Paoli Peaks Ski resort and is named for the big black locust tree that is situated in the middle of the front lawn. That tree is registered by the National Forestry Service as the largest black locust tree in the state of Indiana.
Our next revival will be on Oct. 17-20, at the Defender Methodist Church near Chesapeake, OH. This is only about 16 miles from home so we look forward to being home and seeing many of our friends.
Thanks for your continued support of this ministry. Please know that you are sincerely appreciated.
Together for souls,
George & Pattie
