Revival Update - November 5, 2010
We have preached in four revivals since our last update back in the middle of October. We were at the Defender Methodist Church near Chesapeake, OH with Pastor Bill Flannery on October 17-20. We have preached for them nearly every year for about the last twenty years or so. They are very dear to us and have a special place in our heart. They treat us like family and are exceptionally good to us.
After a good meeting at Defender, we traveled to Newark, OH for our next meeting which was held at the Licking Co. Church of God with Pastor Tony Bartlett. Although this meeting went for the whole week, we were only available to preach for them on two nights, October 21& 22. It is always a thrill to be with them and would be worth the trip just to get to hear their choir sing. They are blessed with several gifted musicians and vocalists.
On Saturday, October 23, we drove to Loganton, PA and began our next meeting at the Loganton Wesleyan Church with Pastor Dan Reed. We were there from October 24-27. It was our privilege to meet and work with a singing group called "Last Generation". Mike & Karen Matieszyn are a husband and wife team that led us in worship and also provided the special music for the meeting. You can check them out @ www.lastgen.us or call (814)483-6151. They make their home in Somerset, PA and travel full-time. Several Wesleyan churches came in support of the revival. Among them were: Jersey Shores Lighthouse Wesleyan, Summit Hill Wesleyan, Beech Creek Wesleyan, Brookside Wesleyan, and Lock Haven Wesleyan. It was also good to see our dear friends, retired pastor Ken & Phyllis Lynn.
We arrived home on Thursday evening, October 28, and headed out again for our next revival on Saturday afternoon, October 30. This time our travels took us to Easley, SC where we would be at the United Wesleyan Church with Pastor Tim Jones from October 31 through November 3. Although this was our first time to be at one of our Wesleyan churches in South Carolina, it was not our first time to be with Pastor Tim. We held two revivals for him when he was the pastor at the First Wesleyan Church in Huntington, WV. The church at Easley has seen wonderful growth during the three and a half years since his arrival. They have grown from an average of about 119 to an average of about 199. Pastor Tim also serves as an Assistant D.S. We were told that they had record setting attendance for the weeknights of the revival and the response at the altar was exceptional. The worship and special music for the meeting was under the direction of their music minister, Bro. Bob Cooley. He did a wonderful job of providing us with good music for the services. We were also grateful to have D.S. Buddy Rampey worship with us on Sunday night. It was good to meet him for the first time. We also met his wife, Joan, when we took a tour of their beautiful campgrounds and district office located on Table Rock Mountain.
Our next revival will be November 7-10, at the Trinity Wesleyan Church in Oak Hill, OH with Pastor Fred Crabtree. If you are in the area, we would love to have you come and be with us. Since this church is only about 45 miles from home, we will get to stay home and commute each evening, yeah!!!
Thanks for your continued prayer and financial support of this ministry. We love and appreciate all of you and just couldn't make it without you.
