The Spring Revival Season

Saturday, 17 April 2010 00:00 | Written by George Holley

The spring revival season continues to be very busy. Holy Week found us in revival on March 30 through April 2, at the Oak Grove Wesleyan Church near Nelsonville, OH with Rev. David & Sharon Cogar. The services went well and several churches from the area attended the meeting. Some of them that we were aware of were: Nelsonville Wesleyan Church; Nelsonville Nazarene Church; Nelsonville Holiness Church; Mineral Holiness Church; Amesville Bethel Wesleyan Church; Albany Christ Community Church; and White Oak Baptist Church.

Easter Sunday was the beginning of our next revival which was held at our home church, the Crown City Wesleyan Church, with Pastor Scott & Lisa Planck. The meeting went through Friday night, April 9, and was very well attended with several victories at the altar. We thank the Lord for some first time conversions that included a senior citizen man and a young adult lady. The Forgiven 4 Quartet provided the special music for the entire revival. It was a privilege to work with this good southern gospel male quartet again. It was also very nice to work with the same singers every night rather than a different group for each service. They were able to carry a burden for the entire meeting and know how the Spirit was moving throughout the revival which makes a big difference. If you would like to have this group for your next concert or revival, you can contact them at (740)550-6180 or on the internet at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Several churches from the nearby area were represented during the revival. Among them were: Defender Methodist Church; Crown City Community Church; 26th St. Baptist Church in Huntington, WV; First Baptist of Proctorville; First Baptist of Gallipolis; Elizabeth Chapel Church; Kings Chapel Church; Lecta CCCU; White Oak Baptist Church; Hayden Enterprise Baptist in Hilliard, OH; Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist; Gallipolis Nazarene Church; and Mercerville Baptist Church.

Our next revival was held on April 11-14, at the Oakfield Wesleyan Church in Oakfield, OH with Pastor Dan & Karen Hinkle. It was pretty amazing to see Pastor Dan able to walk with very little assistance from one crutch considering he had just had knee replacement surgery on April 1. There was a good spirit in each service and we had several testimonies of how God had helped different ones during the meeting. Since we were there two and a half years ago, they built a large fellowhip hall with a huge modern kitchen and spacious meeting room with multi-media technology that is even being used by the community as an outreach tool. The amazing part about all of this is that even though this is a smaller congregation in a rural area, the bulding is already free of any indebtedness. Congratulations and Praise the Lord!!! Way to Go!!!

Some of the visiting churches were: New Lexington CCCU; New Lexington Community Holiness Church; New Lexington Baptist Church; Amesville Bethel Wesleyan Church; and Derwent CCCU.

Our next revival begins tomorrow morning at the Stewart Wesleyan Church in Stewart, OH with Pastor Roger & Lois McCoy. It will continue through Wednesday evening.

Thanks for your continued prayer and financial support of this ministry.

Together for souls,

George & Pattie
